Bemidji State’s biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology degree is a well-rounded, interdisciplinary program offered by the Departments of Biology and Chemistry to prepare students for graduate school, professional school or careers in the biomedical sciences.
The curriculum complements pre-professional programs including medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, veterinary medicine and physical therapy. It is a laboratory-rich program that includes core courses in biology and chemistry, a sequence of seminars, laboratory techniques courses and a senior research experience. Students may select one of two emphases to further align the degree with their career interests.
Biochemistry Emphasis
This emphasis contains additional coursework in chemistry, including analytical chemistry and other upper-level chemistry courses. It is ideal for students with career interests in pharmacy, other pre-health programs or graduate school for which more coursework in chemistry would be advantageous.
