The philosophy major allows students to study philosophy from ancient history to modern schools of thought.
Ideas that we do not question are the ones that cost us the most — as professionals, as students and as citizens.
Philosophy introduces you to the history of ideas that shaped and still shape your way of life. Our goal is to give students a leg up on professional and civic life by practicing new — and old — perspectives on ethical problems.

Pre-Law Emphasis
Students will be able to complete their major requirements in 2-3 years. This will allow students to participate in the BSU-Mitchell Hamline School of Law 3+3 Pre-Law Articulation. Students who are contemplating law school should strongly consider the pre-law emphasis.
