Scholarships are awarded to students who meet the requirements and have applied to them through the foundation scholarship or individually as specified.

Anita Carlson Memorial Scholarship
Criteria: A Mass Communications major with a caring attitude for others.
James and Cameron McMahon Memorial Scholarship
Criteria: Two scholarships shall be awarded annually to Junior or Seniors majoring in Mass Communications—one in journalism and one in broadcast. Potential recipients must have achieved an overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.00.
James Grier Memorial Scholarship
Criteria: Must be a junior or senior majoring in Mass Communications and a graduate of Bemidji High School. A GPA of 2.5 – 3.0 is required. Special consideration given to a student who is individualistic, pursuing an independent course of thought or action and has shown interest in helping others. This student may not appear to meet other scholarship criteria.
Paul V. Boswell Memorial Scholarship
Criteria: Undergraduate American Indian student with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Preference to students working towards a major/minor in Journalism. Recipients are eligible to reapply annually.
Roy and Eva Lind Scholarship
Criteria: For junior or senior Visual Arts, Elementary Education or Mass Communications majors.
Roy Blackwood Scholarship
Criteria: Student must be a Mass Communications major. Freshman and sophomores are encouraged to apply.
Russell Herder Scholarship
Criteria: The student must be a junior or senior majoring in Market Communications with a concentration in Advertising and/or Public Relations. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 an have demonstrated a high work ethic.
Star Tribune Foundation Scholarship
Criteria: Student must be an American Indian majoring in Mass Communications with a Journalism Emphasis and preference is given to a freshman or transfer student. If no qualified freshman or transfer students are available, the scholarship may be awarded to upperclassman.
