Our student run organizations will help the media you produce and the stories you report get seen and heard. Visit the Northern Student Media website.
Radio & Podcasting
Students go live on the air and stream their own content! KBSB-FM 90 is your radio station. DJ music, news and sportscasts, public affairs programs and play-by-play sports, it’s all produced and managed by students. Get involved and learn what on-air announcing, podcasting and real-time marketing is all about. FM90 is also streamed on the internet so anyone and everyone can hear it.
Television & Video Streaming
The videos you produce and the stories you report get seen! KBSU- TV—Channel 17 is a hands-on TV station managed by students in the Integrated Media department and that includes Bemidji State NCAA sports. Channel 17 can be seen throughout northern Minnesota from Bemidji to Grand Rapids to the Canadian border. Our YouTube Channel showcases student productions from fishing hunting videos to documentaries to fashion and product marketing.
Northern Student Magazine
Publish your work! The Northern Student magazine is a professional training ground for writers, photographers, designers, copy editors, social media producers and web producers. You will get hands-on experience in every aspect of publishing by working with our student-run Northern Student magazine and website.
Cinema and Documentary & Photography
It’s all about creativity and storytelling! As part of a student crew, you will write, produce and direct stories that are meaningful and get the attention of your peers and the community. Students in our courses write screenplays, produce dramatic short films and go on location to investigate one-of-a-kind stories. The Headwaters Film Festival features these stories along with professional film directors who have something important to say.
