Mathematics Education M.S.
Intended for middle and secondary school math teachers, the MS in mathematics education focuses on advanced instructional methodologies and subject area depth for middle and high school education.
Curriculum
The program requires a minimum of 32 credits that include six credits from the Professional Education Department, nine required core credits and 15 credits are mathematics electives. Students must also complete a pedagogical portfolio and final research paper for the final two credits.

Admission Process
Open enrollment: Fall applicants should submit their application and additional materials by April 1 for preferred consideration.
Application Requirements
- Graduate Application for Admission
- $20 non-refundable application fee
- Official transcripts of bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Overall undergraduate GPA: 2.75*
- A copy of current teaching license
- Two (2) letters of recommendation from a previous employer/professor
- International students must provide Proof of English Proficiency.
*Students with an undergraduate GPA below 2.75 or who are within 11 semester hours of satisfying undergraduate degree requirements may qualify for provisional admission.

Some students may qualify for a graduate assistantship, which includes a tuition waiver and stipend. GAs, in return, are expected to complete certain teaching and/or research assignments for the department.
