With careful planning, students can complete three years at Bemidji State University and transfer the first year of law school at Mitchell Hamline School of Law (MHSL) to earn a bachelor’s degree. The following requirements must be met prior to entering law school.
- Meet with Dr. Donnay and your academic advisor early in your academic career at BSU to become informed about the program
- Select a major program that has a 3+3 pre law curriculum
- Have a minimum 2.25 graduation cumulative grade point average
- Have a minimum of 92 credits applicable to BSU degree
- Satisfy BSU residency requirements
- Complete BSU Liberal Education Requirements
- Meet BSU Major Requirements (including complementary courses)*
- Apply to MHSL during fall or third year of attendance at BSU
- Take the LSAT during fall or third year of attendance at BSU
*At the discretion of the BSU College and major department, certain courses from the first year of law school may apply towards these requirements. Students must consult with their Dr. Donnay and their academic adviser to determine how these will be satisfied.
Completion of the above requirements does not guarantee admission to law school. Students will complete the same admission process as other law school applicants.
