Biography
Dr. Jessamay Pesek earned a PhD in Curriculum & Instruction, a doctoral minor in Program Evaluation, and a Master’s degree in Comparative and International Development Education from the University of Minnesota. She has B.A. in Teaching Social Studies from the University of MN – Duluth. Dr. Pesek currently works at Bemidji State University as the Director of PEDL, the Coordinator of FasTrack, and as an Associate Professor in the Professional Education Department. She regularly teaches Human Relations, Foundations of Education, Social Studies Secondary Methods, Introduction to FasTrack, and Research Methods. She is a MN licensed secondary social studies teacher (grades 5-12) who has taught in a public school in Budapest, Hungary and in K-12 schools within the Twin Cities. Jessamay has worked as an instructor, student teacher supervisor, education program evaluator, and international student program coordinator. She has also supported social studies curriculum in schools across Latin America. Her research interests include civic education, multicultural education, political socialization, and learning technologies.
Jessamay is originally from Central Minnesota and enjoys traveling, being outdoors, and cooking new recipes.
